More high winds and another power outage

Today’s power outage on Bowen Island lasted from 3:15 PM to just before 6 PM. The lights came on less than an hour ago, so my office is just beginning to warm and the Internet is back up.

We must be lucky. I was talking with Colleen at BC Hydro to learn when the power would be restored when suddenly the lights came on. “Oh,” Colleen exclaimed, “it says here that you are not expected to have power until tomorrow morning!”

It has been a difficult season, and there may be more interesting events ahead. I have been tracking a hugh low pressure system that has been moving north toward the tip of the Aleutian Islands. Between it and us is a large high pressure dome behind the cold front that just arrived. So there may be flurries during Wednesday (tomorrow) associated with the front, then a couple of days of cold clear weather.

Sometime around the weekend we will see what happens as that low pressure system meanders this way.
