The Cates Hill Labyrinth on Bowen Island is complete

The ceremony for opening the new labyrinth was held at the conclusion of the anniversary events at the Rivendell Retreat Centre on Sunday, June 3.

Led by the music of a recorder, folks walked down the new woodland path from Rivendell to the labyrinth.

After words of dedication and prayer, many people watered the new herbs, and took the occasion to voice their own thoughts.

There was music

The first people bold enough to walk the labyrinth were the youngest; but soon many joined them

    @Sheila, thanks for dropping by.

    In the posting, I didn’t mention that the Labyrinth is between a large public park and the Tir na nOg Theatre School near the top of the Bowen community of Cates Hill.

    Visitors are welcome to come and walk the labyrinth.

    If the large urn of water remains, I am sure that the new plants along the path would appreciate a drink of water, especially in dry weather.

    Cates Hill is the new community that rises just behind and to the west of Snug Cove. If you don’t know the way, you will find that Bowen Islanders are friendly and will be glad to direct you. It is a stiff walk all the way up the hill from the ferry. Some people who would never hitchhike on the mainland find it easier than walking here on Bowen.

    I was just notified that the Tabblo of these pictures made Tabblo-of-the-Day over at If you have an account there (its free) you will see the thumbprint and link when you sign on.

    Here is a direct link to the Tabblo of the Labyrinth Opening.

    There is also an earlier Tabblo of the Labyrinth when it was under construction, last July. You will find it in my collection at that site.
