Chilcotin Canada Day Weekend

We looked at the maps of the region we would be visiting (Goldbridge, Gun Lake), and put the canopy on the top of my friend’s Toyota pickup. I’ve made a jar of peanut butter-honey-chocolate to construct power sandwiches as trail food. After dinner I will assemble my skiing and camping gear. We plan to be off Bowen Island on the 7:30 AM ferry. We will pick up another skier, and then stop for food supplies en-route, in Squamish.

The weather looks very uninteresting. Today, a huge bubble of high pressure moved onto the local coast. The ridge stretches across the Pacific to Midway and Iwojima. It is a weekend for sunscreen.

Yup, skis. This is primarily a ski trip. The latest we’ve skied was the 2nd week in August after the great snowpack of 1999. We skied the SE ridge of Mt. Callaghan. It was a day trip from Vancouver. If the sun cups are not too big, this is a wonderful time of the year to ski. The days are long and warm and the corn snow is fun to ski. I am hoping we won’t have to climb too high to find good snow. Nice to discover blogx. I’ve added it to the blogroll. Thx.
