Very Bad Deaths by Spider Robinson

Very Bad Deaths - by Spider RobinsonI am reading Very Bad Deaths, a novel by Bowen Island author, Spider Robinson. The principal location for the story is an island in Howe Sound that is very similar to Spider’s home.

While local Islanders often complain about the problems of traveling on our ferry, the protagonist in the tale says, “…to ride a ferry to any of the Howe Sound islands is to take a magical mystery tour through a place of timeless beauty so large that no lens will ever capture it, and so poignant that no heart will ever forget it.”

Probably I should add that this poetic interlude was not typical of many of the scenes in the book. The story is closer to the style of Stephen King than anything else I’ve read by The Great Arachnid.
