It is dark, foggy and raining today. Lots of snow fell during the holidays, but today the temperature is +2ºC. There is lots of snow on the roof clogging the eve troughs. It’s furiously melting and noisily flowing off the house.

Well, it looks like the rain has let up, and the snow is finding its way down the city drain.

I’m sure spring is on the way. Hows that for wishful thinking!!

    Happy New Year Robert! 🙂

Hi Jen. I’m one of those west coast folks who made his way here from Montreal, Toronto and Winnipeg. So, for me, these dumps of snow have been a time of nostalgia. This weekend my daughter expects to head into the local hills to build an igloo. Isn’t igloo-building part of our culture too? Since I’ve come here I learned to appreciate the amazing wilderness that begins within the City limits and extends forever northward. For me my backcountry ski season doesn’t really start until the end of January… when the snow is deep in the high country and the days are long and mild. As June approaches it is possible to ski in the morning and go for a swim in Howe Sound in the afternoon.

    Happy New Year Jen.
